Clay and Stella
Stella used to be a waitress
at the Black Cat bar & grill
She slaved all day for peanuts
life didn’t offer many thrills
In this one traffic light kind of nowhere town
where only truckers rolled by
she dreamed like any other girl
one day she’d be able to fly
She was dreaming of an 18 wheeler
With a man who treat her right
Someone she could lean on
As they rolled both day and night
She didn’t care much for diamonds
Wouldn’t know what to do with gold
She was just looking for a true love
A best friend she could hold
Clay was a long haul trucker
He’d been that most of his life
Lately the road got lonely
Ever since he lost his wife
Clay know Stella from his stop-ins
She made a good grilled cheese and fries
But he could see something wrong tonight
As he looked into her eyes
(chorus)
Clay could she was hurting
Stella said she needed more
But she never had the courage
To just walk on out that door
As Clay got up to leave he said
“Stella, let me take you away”
And two hearts came together
And their still rolling today
Cause she found herself an 18 wheeler…….
