Stories to Tell

Well his hands don’t work as well as they used to
He says sometimes his memory fades
Getting up’s not as easy anymore
As in his younger days
Now he lives in a shack by the ocean
Loves a good cup of coffee at dawn
Not much work around here for a man his age
Makes it hard just to get along

He’s got stories to tell about when times went well
Though they’re all about yesterdays
Listen and learn it won’t do you no harm
It might help you along your way

Mary used to be a dancer
Man, she broke some hearts back in her day
But as always time it moved on
She found her youth had faded away
Now she lives in a cottage full of flowers
And she’ll invite you in for tea
And you can sit and listen for hours
About the days that used to be

(chorus)

So if you find yourself with a stranger
Maybe someone much older that you
And they start rambling on about the good old days
Won’t you listen to a story or two
Cause we all run down the same road
And exit through the same revolving door
So you might just pick up a few pointers
From someone whose been there before

(chorus)
