THE DENTIST SONG

I stand outside the doorway
Afraid to go in
Must be that time of year
To go to the dentist again
I walk into the lobby
Smells like tooth decay
Must be from the patients
Who died earlier that day

I hate going to the dentist
Those shots in my gums
I drool more than rover
And my whole mouth is numb
It’s a torture chamber
I really could afford to miss
Worst of all I can’t believe
--I pay for this

I slump down in a chair
Behind a magazine
Hoping when the nurse comes
That I won’t be seen
I‘ve just come for a cleaning
But they’ll find a root canal
Then she calls my name
And this day’s shot to hell

(chorus)

He walks into the room
Mask over his face
Even protective goggles
So I can’t use my mace
He plays with sharp metal objects
Until he finds the right one
Turns on the spotlight
Now it’s time to have some fun

(chorus)

In the waiting room
I hope they hear my screams
Give them a chance to run
It’s too late for me
Make another appointment
They never seem to end
Must be maintenance time
On his jag again

(chorus)
